How a pivot door works
Before the engineering detail, here's how a pivot door moves and what to plan for at your entrance.
Hinged vs. Pivot
A hinged door rotates from its side edge on two or three hinges. A pivot door rotates around a vertical axis between an upper and lower pivot point, with no visible hinges — the door itself reads as part of the facade.
Swing Configuration
Every pivot door is built to open the way your entrance needs — left or right hand, opening inward or outward. We confirm the right configuration with you based on the entrance and how it's used.
Swing Path & Clearance
A pivot door swings open up to 180 degrees, so the entrance needs enough floor clearance for the full arc — we check this with you as part of the site measurement.
Pivot Hardware
Stainless-steel upper and lower pivot mechanisms rated to 350kg, with a drop-seal threshold for a tight close.
